Rule Sheet 2
Group 12
We created a trivia game surrounding both horror and real estate, Quite a usual combination to say the least. The player must answer questions correctly to be able to get keys which will unlock the doors for the rooms they are trapped in. There is no strategy or skill involved, success in this game is tied entirely to your background knowledge on the topics.
For the 2nd iteration of our rule sheet, we didn't really have much to work on. As there had been no play tests or edits of any kind since we did the original. Because of this, we decide to do a play test of our own. Originally this wasn't seen as an option yet as we hadn't finalize the board game nor the questions we were going to use. But we quickly realized that these weren't essential as we were the creators of the game, as such we already knew how to play it without any physical pieces. After creating the trivia question we figured it would be better to instead leave an online copy of all the questions and answers on the rule sheet, instead of forcing the players to print them out. This would intern greatly help the accessibility to the trivia questions, and also save the players paper and time.
Not only does it make getting them easier, but also significantly easier to change in the future. This also gives the player the option to edit/add any questions of their own to the question bank if they so choose. This wasn't our original intent, but we saw it as a great unintended addition.
Current rendition of the physical board (note that we do not intend to keep the question sheets physical unlike what is shown here)
We are quite happy with the questions we had created for the trivia bank, and our considering them complete until we can get peer reviews. The print outs on the under hand are still under heavy development. This is currently they primary area of effort in the project. We haven't hit any major road bumps regarding the development, we had just spent all out time creating questions for the trivia.
We also did some minor edits to the instructions and the rules, making them very short and to the point. The entire rule sheet should be able to be read and understood in less 2 minutes, giving the players ample time actual gameplay. We also confirmed the addition of actions cards, which was not fully implemented in the first rendition, nor was finalized, but we are happy to say that they will be in the final edition of the game. We added these to spice up the gameplay by giving the players more points for the harder to answer questions.
Going forward I don't think we will be changing how we go through the development process. We are both quiet contempt with how things have been turning out, and are on track to finishing the game quite soon. One thing we hadn't done before which I thought really helped was to have longer group meetings. Normally our sessions last for an hour, but we made out last meeting over 2. This game use much more time to collaborate and compare potential ideas and additions to the game.
The actual gameplay of our game is finished. The only thing that needs to be completed is the physical portions of the game. We realized that though this is a board game, everyone who will be playing will have access to a device and internet. Because of that we were able to eliminate a whole page of physical gameplay aspects, and even give the option to use a online timer instead of a physical one. Besides this we no other changes needed for our game, and will be waiting patiently for feedback once we begin official play tests.
